MONO
The exhibition “MONO” talks about a man alienated in the absurd, making sense of a rapidly changing reality as a mirror to his time.
Obviously, the instability of human experience has become more common. Today’s increasing geopolitical conflicts and immigrations, as well as natural disasters, have deeply affected people’s lives on a personal level. At the same time, the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies is progressing in parallel with these events. This exhibition incorporates the author's reflections brought by the sense of meaninglessness and absurdity of the post-immigration period, reflecting the artist's subjective reality by means of artificial intelligence.
While the exhibition is a completely personal monologue of the artist, throughout the exposition, there is a constant dialogue with artificial intelligence. In this dialectic, artificial intelligence plays the role of a guide, serving as a kind of solution provider, accompanying the author in their search for meaning and raising questions within the absurd. Artificial intelligence dictates the author through all of their steps. Despite the often-irrational nature of these instructions, the fact that the author follows them points to how external forces and circumstances affects their perception and life, even to the extent of control. In the exhibition, the artist proposes a critical question: should one surrender to events beyond their control or resist against them?
By establishing a mutual relationship with artificial intelligence, Tatarintsev examines the possibilities and limitations of the interaction and explores the potential consequences of AI’s rapid development. Thus, the exhibition raises questions related to ethics and responsibility and emphasizing how it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish reality from surreal, original from counterfeit.

There is nothing more real than nothing
2023
8-channel video installation, print on vinyl

The video installation "There is nothing more real than nothing" explores the story of an individual who recognizes their inner vulnerability in a world where emotions and personality are dehumanized. As an example of the disconnect between technology and the human spirit, Chat GPT is at the center of his installation and is used as an artificial intelligence guide. A human's life is spent waiting for the consequences of events that do not depend on his choices and that he cannot control. The artist said, "Maybe this is the reason" and accepted the absurdity of a certain period of his life being controlled by another force. Over the course of 30 days, the artist spends each day completing new tasks given to him by the chat. During this time, an unknown period with no discernible beginning or end is created. The artist represents the process of thinking with artificial intelligence to complete his inner emptiness and the execution of the result for himself. The work compels the audience to reflect on the diminishing boundaries between humanity and technology in our world, where the concept of free choice becomes increasingly blurred day by day.
At least we say we can
2023
4-channel sound installation, old chairs, shoes
5'47'', site specific dimensions

The installation "At Least We Say We Can" highlights the subject of immigration and its emotional as well as cultural aspects. The artist expresses the dynamics and complexity of this subject matter in a unique style. While exploring the theme of immigration, the author uses the voices of both living individuals and artificial intelligence. Here, the boundaries between real and non-real events in life are left to the discretion of the viewer. The installation creates a mutual dialogue between the viewer and the artwork, revealing that despite the differences in people's lives, immigration processes can create voids within individuals in the future. In addition to this, the transformation of old chairs and shoes symbolizes the sudden changes in life, and it also emphasizes the memories of the past. The work allows each person to relive their own experiences and emotions related to immigration.
Silence…speaks
2023
2-channel video installation, 7'27''

"Silence... Speaks" is a two-channel video installation. The video, created by artificial intelligence, completely transforms Franz Kafka's "In the Penal Colony," turning it into a senseless and unimaginable dialogue. In this work, Kafka frequently explores the mechanisms of power and control, which are often reflected in discussions of digital ethics related to technology. It states that these play an important role in the formation of public opinion and behavior, as well as in alienation and dehumanization. The installation "Silence... speaks" questions the accuracy of the information processed in the modern information environment and invites the viewer to think about the influence of the transmitted information.
I don't want sorry
2023
1-channel video, 18'59''

In the video installation "I don't want sorry" the artist explores the relationship between the macro and micro levels of the human experience. In this work, the artist also visualizes extreme events, global disasters, and crises through the use of artificial intelligence. In parallel with this theme, fragments of the author's personal chat appear on the screen, drawing attention to the individual experience. This dual-level interaction creates a dynamic between the inner state of the individual and the external world. The artwork shows how humans try to perceive and adapt to challenging circumstances without losing their personal identity.
